Public Rally at Freestone Park

Saturday afternoon a crowd of over 100 Gilbert residents attended the Public Rally at Freestone Park. The program included performances by The Dorsets, Jordan Bluth and others, along with remarks by John. Because the rally was held in a high traffic area many passerbys had a chance to see campaign yard signs dotting the ampitheater hills and look on as John addressed the crowd.

We'd like to thank all those who took the time to help plan and help with the rally, along with those who were in attendance to show their support.

My name is Lisa Rigler and I am the Executive Director of the Gilbert Small Business Alliance. We are an advocacy organization that represents small business interests in Gilbert. We give small businesses resources and the voice to promote their growth and sustainability.

We endorse John Lewis for Mayor for several key reasons. John Lewis has demonstrated through his history of leadership and as a citizen unyielding integrity which is essential to the role of Mayor in our Town. Saturday Phone Rally A Great Success
Saturday February 7th John and LaCinda Lewis invited volunteers to their home to help make calls for the campaign. The day began with the gathering of Precint Leaders under the direction of the volunteer coordinator, Miranda. Next the volunteers helped make calls from 10am to 4pm, and had great success in letting residents of Gilbert know more about John. John was thrilled with the turn-out and grateful to everyone who helped.

Coach Christensen Endorses John

Recently a cottage meeting was held at the home of Gary and Rhonda Christensen. The food was great, the company fantastic and John's message was well received. A big thank you to Gary and Rhonda and friends.

Upon endorsing John for mayor Coach Christensen explained:
"As Gilbert High's baseball coach (and a former major league baseball player), I always look for five tool players to play on Gilbert’s teams in baseball. These are players who can run, throw, field, hit, and hit with power. For Gilbert mayor, we should look for a similarly multi-talented and multi-tooled individual to lead our great city. When it comes to the tools that make a great mayor, John Lewis has the position locked.

In John Lewis, I find the following tools:
Family- John knows what our families need in government. He is a husband and devoted father of eight. That means he is a team player.
Neighbor- John knows what our neighborhoods need. John and his family are always there to help. They are team players.
Intelligence and Skill – John is an MBA and very successful director of a public company. These are skills that Gilbert’s mayor should have.
Community - John is a member of multi-faith groups.
Integrity - In business and in government, John is an honest man who can be counted on.
For me, John Lewis has that sixth star which few men have. Stated simply, he is the finest man I know and has my vote for Gilbert Mayor. Vote for John and please call all your friends!

Todd and Amanda's Story

When Todd and Amanda Westenskow moved to Gilbert they found a wonderful place to raise a family and enjoy their new life. At the same time, they felt that Gilbert was in dire need of new mayoral leadership. Knowing the elections were coming soon Todd and Amanda were undecided in the decision for mayor. Who could provide the leadership in this troubled economic time? Who had the vision to lead this town they had grown to love? Last month they received an unexpected phone call. The caller announced that they were a volunteer for the John Lewis for mayor campaign. Todd listened to the volunteer, visited the website and found in John someone who could lead Gilbert with honor and excellence. "I was very impressed with the website and background of John Lewis," Todd said, and then went on to say:

"Gilbert needs a leader as Mayor. I was hopeful that someone would step up that has the same ideals Gilbert exemplifies, namely faith, family, and service. We have a great community here. We have great schools here. We have great services here. We need to keep it that way. We need to keep the process open and honest. John Lewis is our guy. I appreciate the call from your campaign, and would appreciate the opportunity to show our support through a yard sign and any campaign information we can share with our friends."

The story of Todd and Amanda Westenskow is living proof that our phone banking efforts can be a great success. Please take the time to visit the phone bank so you can reach out to families like the Westenskows who need to learn about John and his vision for the future of Gilbert.

Councilman Dave Crozier Endorses John
by Dave Crozier - January 21, 2009
Having served as a member of the town council for almost 13 years including 3 terms as Vice-Mayor, I know what it takes for our community to be successful. That is why I am supporting John Lewis for Mayor. John has the experience to lead the town during these difficult economic times. He understands finance and will wisely make decisions as we navigate through these tough economic times. John has impeccable integrity and is a natural leader. His consensus-building skills are exactly what our community needs and he has the skills to lead us in reaching new heights of excellence. I look forward to working with John in ensuring that our quality of life is even better, our streets even safer, and our community even more secure, while keeping our taxes low. Please join with me in supporting John Lewis as our next Gilbert Mayor.

Super Sign On The Move!
When Brent Stowell learned of John Lewis' decision to run for mayor he came up with the ingenious idea to mount a campaign street sign to the back of his truck. Brent believed this was the best way to show his enthusiasm and spread John's name around Gilbert. If you have heard of any creative ways to spread the word we encourage you to share them with us.

Phone Banking is Fun and Effective!

by Jill Geigle - January 19, 2009
Making phone calls for John Lewis is a fun, effective way of letting our Gilbert neighbors know that John Lewis is the outstanding candidate for Gilbert mayor. As we've made phone calls, we've found many people still haven't decided who they are going to vote for and so they welcome the information about John Lewis. After our first day of making calls the campaign received an email from someone we had contacted the night before. In the email they thanked us for calling and telling them about John and his website. They were now convinced that he was the person they wanted to support for mayor. When people learn about John, they want to vote for him, and the phones are the way to get John's name and campaign message out to Gilbert! A few hours of phone calling can make a big difference!

"It was a lot of fun to get involved in the phone bank and help spread the word to other Gilbert citizens! John Lewis is an incredible man and definitely the best candidate for the upcoming election"--Olivia Evans

The next three weeks are the most critical period of the campaign as early ballots are received by mail. Above all John needs friends to help volunteer at the phone bank so these voters hear his name and visit his website. Show your support and enthusiam for John's campaign by making calls to help spread the word:

Record Numbers Attend Cottage Meeting

January 17, 2009
Fifty people turned out to meet John Lewis Saturday night at the home of Curtis and Aimee Keller in South Gilbert. "In the beginning, we were hoping for 20 people and the invitation spread like wildfire. Many people asked if they could bring family members or friends. I think people are really ready for a change in Gilbert's leadership--so they want to be informed about the candidates running for Mayor and Town Council," Aimee said.

John Lewis spoke to the group about the need for a change in Gilbert leadership. "Gilbert is in financial trouble right now and we have got to change that," he explained. "With my experience in business and finance, I am prepared to help solve these budget issues." Lewis listened to concerns from Gilbert business owners who have faced difficulties growing their businesses. "Changes need to be made to make Gilbert a more friendly place to do business," Aimee said. "John Lewis has a reputation for solving problems and getting the job done."

"Gilbert also needs leadership you can trust," Lewis said. After learning more about Lewis, Rachel Brooke commented, "He is head and shoulders above the rest-- really high caliber. Looking at his resume and qualifications, I don't see how anyone can touch him." Curtis Keller said, "Out of the 6 candidates running for mayor, John Lewis is the one who has the character, skills, and experience needed to lead Gilbert in this time of economic turmoil. " Aimee said, "We are so excited that John Lewis is running. We have known him for many years and know he is a man of integrity. He will be a mayor we can all be proud of."
