Endorsements for John Lewis Having served as a member of the town council for almost 13 years including 3 terms as Vice-Mayor, I know what it takes for our community to be successful. That is why I am supporting John Lewis for Mayor. John has the experience to lead the town during these difficult economic times. He understands finance and will wisely make decisions as we navigate through these tough economic times. John has impeccable integrity and is a natural leader. His consensus-building skills are exactly what our community needs and has the skills to lead us in reaching new heights of excellence. I look forward to working with John in ensuring our quality of life is even better, our streets even safer, and our community even more secure, while keeping our taxes low. Please join with me in supporting John Lewis as our next Gilbert Mayor. As Gilbert's former Town Manager from 1983 to 2001 I had the opportunity to work with 36 town council members and six mayors. I sincerely appreciate the service of all of these dedicated elected officials. That being said and with all due respect to our current Mayor and Town council members, I wholeheartedly endorse John Lewis for Mayor. He has exactly the kind of ethics, values and business credentials needed for the next chapter of Gilbert's continuing development as a great place to live, work and play. He is truly a consensus builder with years of service on Gilbert's interfaith council and on the Town's Diversity Taskforce. He has the business background to lead the community back to prosperity. I have known John for 24 years and I know that he will serve with integrity and make fairness and the respect of others hallmarks of his service as Mayor. John Lewis has demonstrated through his history of leadership and as a citizen unyielding integrity which is essential to the role of Mayor in our Town. I have known John since he came to Gilbert 24 years ago and have observed his leadership and honesty. He is honest and true to his word. I know him to be a man that will do what he says he will do. John Lewis is the only candidate with a proven track record in business and finance. His leadership will safely guide Gilbert through these tough economic times. I am writing to strongly support John Lewis as a candidate for the position of Mayor of Gilbert, Arizona . When I hear the name John Lewis, I think immediately of family. John has a superb family which consists not only of his biological family, but his international family which exemplifies John’s concept of our global society. His faith family not only includes his deep commitment to his own faith, but his great inclusiveness of all faiths in his commitment to Interfaith relations and action. John Lewis is a man of service which has been exemplified in his commitment to many community programs, but also his dedicated work for the Boy Scouts of America. An expanding city like Gilbert needs a man of vision, courage, inclusiveness, and compassion. That man is John Lewis and he deserves our strongest support.
Based on my past experience serving on the Town Council, and understanding the economic crisis the Town faces with reduced revenues, I strongly support John Lewis for Mayor. John possesses a unique combination of financial training and experience and people skills that qualify him as a gifted leader to guide us during the coming challenging years. I support John Lewis as a leader of the future in our county. His business/finance experience, coupled with his communication skills will be able to help the town make smart decisions during these difficult economic times. He is a fiscal conservative who will be wise with taxpayer money. John Lewis will be able to re-establish regional relationships to raise Gilberts profile. His leadership will help the town work with county and state officials to maximize Gilbert's potential. I look forward to working with John. I have known John Lewis for over seven years, since I was first brought into his office as a temporary employee. Six months later, John hired me full-time as his assistant. I worked in close association with him for nearly three years. What impressed me the most about John was that he made it a point to let me know that I mattered to him as an individual and that the work I did made a difference to him and to his organization. I am proud of the years I spent in his service, and it is now my honor to endorse Mr. John Lewis as the next Mayor of the Town of Gilbert. We need some fresh faces on the town council and in the mayors seat. No one should make a career of local politics and John Lewis is my choice for that change. He is pro-business and promises to make Gilbert a business friendly town by dismantling the log jam of bureaucracy stopping Gilbert from attracting quality business.
As a former Gilbert Town Council member it is evident to me, the tremendous impact that the Mayor has on the Town. I have been associated with John for over 25 years and have worked with him on many tasks and responsibilities. During this time I have found John to be an honest hard working individual with wisdom and values. One of his greatest talents is the ability to get things done proficiently and in a timely manor. John will bring with him to the office of Mayor of Gilbert, a sense of commitment, dignity, and professionalism. John Lewis will lead the Town of Gilbert with genuine vision and bring credibility back to the office of the Mayor of Gilbert. I have known John Lewis for nearly fifty years. I grew up in the shadow of John's childhood home and looked to him and his family with great respect and admiration. It is with great honor that I recommend John for our mayor of Gilbert. He is truly a man that Gilbert needs. He is not about prestige or power. He's always been about the people. He cares for individuals like no other. His warmth is more penetrating than the Arizona summer sun. I respect John's sincere effort to meet the needs of not only the one but for the many, many friends, neighbors and fellow Gilbert citizens. He is more concerned about others than he ever is of himself. I went to school with John from my elementary days on and witnessed first hand his exemplary compassion towards those who perhaps, did not have the circle of friends he had. His circle of comrades was never closed but was always an open invitation to enjoy his friendship and love. His leadership skills go far beyond what is expected or outlined in a job description. His determination to represent the good in all people is what continues to touch my heart. I am in John's corner! I have known John professionally for over four years, and have known about him for about eleven years now. In this time, John has been a man of genuine humility, unshakable integrity with a determined resolve to serve the good of the community. Gilbert needs this kind of leader who will put the citizens of Gilbert first. Gilbert needs this kind of representative who will unravel the status quo and wrest it from the hands of a group of politicians, returning our town government to the people where it belongs. As a local baseball coach (and a former major league baseball player), I always look for 5 tool players to play on Gilbert’s teams in baseball. These are players who can run, throw, field, hit, and hit with power.
For Gilbert mayor, we should look for a similarly multi-talented/ multi-tooled individual to lead our great city. When it comes to the tools that make a great Mayor, John Lewis should have the position locked.
In John Lewis, I find the following tools: Gilbert needs new leadership for the many challenges ahead. Without question, John Lewis has the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to lead our Town at this time. Further, his commitment to the principles of freedom and liberty are only matched by his integrity and commitment to serve our community. We are most fortunate to have him run for Mayor at this time. I support John Lewis for Gilbert Mayor!
As a mother, I know that under John’s leadership that safety and education will remain an important, top priority. John will make sure that our schools remain one of the top districts in the state. I also know that he will help to maintain the high level of safety and security our current police and fire departments strive to achieve.
As a small business owner I feel that John Lewis will be the best person to lead and guide our community into the future. He has taken the time to listen to the concerns of business owners and has a true vision on how to establish a business friendly environment, not only for businesses already in Gilbert, but also in attracting new businesses to Gilbert. John understands that by partnering and encouraging business growth in Gilbert we will become a stronger and economically independent town.
I recognize the need for our town to have strong leadership and feel that John Lewis is the man to bring that leadership. John is an effective communicator who truly cares about people and the town in which we all live, work, and raise our families. He exemplifies all of the qualities I was looking for in a candidate. John Lewis has my vote. John Lewis is a scouter who loves to serve young people and help them see and reach their potential. John embodies and lives his life by being a living example of the Boy Scout oath, law and motto. In a leadership role he organized the adult leaders in his area to attend Boy Scout's highest level of leadership training--Wood Badge.Over 100 adults in his stewardship attended Wood Badge. John practices the leadership traits that are part of Wood Badge. He creates vision with the input of others, he communicates, and he builds trust. He would be an outstanding Mayor! I was excited to hear that John Lewis was running for Mayor of Gilbert. The most exciting part is that John is running for the right reason: To lead Gilbert toward a better future. Those who know John--and there are many--know that for years he has generously given of his time, talent and monies to numerous volunteer Gilbert organizations. He has invested in Gilbert, and he wants to continue investing in our town. John will bring to Gilbert his integrity and business talent, which talent has been used to develop one of the most noted universities in Arizona. He also brings his uncommon problem-solving talent. But he will not solve problems by creating conflict. Instead he will seek the community's input to understand what is of most importance to us, and accordingly prioritize those issues that need to be solved first. I've known John for about 12 years. I spent a good part of my high school years in his home and was able to watch him as a father, teacher and leader. John is bold but not overbearing; he's smart but grounded; he's kind to everyone but it's actually sincere (unlike most politicians); he's well-rounded but not balloon-headed; and, best of all, he can still hold his own on the basketball court! I support John Lewis as Mayor of Gilbert. John Lewis is a builder! Not a builder of homes, but of people. I have been associated with John for over 16 years and have worked with him on many tasks and responsibilities. I coached youth sports with John for years and have seen how he builds: building up the youth on our team in practices and games, building up the parents and families as he brings them together, even building up opposing players and fans, helping all involved realize that one of the purposes of playing is to bring the community together. That is what I want for Gilbert. Someone who has a vision for what our community can be as we all work together. This is the kind of leadership that we need in Gilbert right now.
